Foreign currency in bank accounts can be converted into FXRR.

On 30.09.2022, the Official Gazette published Circular No. 2022/27, which amends the 2021/14 Circular regarding the Support for the Conversion of Foreign Currency Deposits into Turkish Lira.

According to this, for legal entities, between 31.12.2021 and 30.06.2022, it was possible to convert foreign currencies (USD, EUR, GBP) held in bank accounts into Turkish Lira at the conversion rate. This period has now been changed to 31.12.2021-30.09.2022.

The exemption provision in the fourth paragraph of the temporary 14th article of the Corporate Tax Law is applicable to foreign currencies reported in the balance sheets dated 31.03.2022. The President has the authority to apply this date as 30.06.2022 and 30.09.2022. Therefore, it is expected that the same authority used for foreign currencies in balance sheets dated 30.06.2022 will also be applied to those in balance sheets dated 30.09.2022.
